March 2nd, 2009 - Welcome Jayla Kristine

The day after Kara turned 7 months old my sister gave birth to Jayla Kristine. She was born on 3-2-09 at 11:20 am. She weighed 7 lbs 9oz and was 19.75 inches long. I got the joy of being there when Jayla was born, I was such a happy Auntie! Jayla is the sweetest little peanut, she may come off as a little needy, or fussy, but really when she has to compete against Jayden and Kara for attention can you blame her? Jayden is such a great big brother, he is constantly giving Jayla kisses! And Jayla has the most beautiful blue eyes, ever! The last picture wasn't really taken on March 2nd, 2009.. I just had to show off her eyes!

A Look Back in Time

Well, it appears that no one has updated my blog for over 3 months, how is that even possible? It feel like it was just yesterday that my baby girl was 7 months old, not 10 months old. My sista friend was still pregnant, can you even imagine a time now without little baby Jayla? I was only 25, and Joe only 26. Kara had never been on a boat, only had 1 tooth, couldn't say uh-oh.. heck she couldn't even crawl yet!! Wow.. its crazy how fast the time flies by! It's hard to imagine that in only 46 short days(I only know this from my birthday countdown on igoogle) my baby will turn one!! Now that is really REALLY hard to believe! Its amazing how quickly she has grown from a baby to a little girl!

I am going to go back through some pictures over the last few months and do some 'make up' posts to make up for the last 3 months that I somehow just missed!

7 Months!

I cannot believe my baby girl is 7 months old today!! This morning I found signs of her first tooth! You can just barely see it, but you can definitely feel it, that sucka is SHARP!

Within the last week or so she has started saying "Dadadada" and "Bababababa" still no "Mamamama" but she is saving the best for last.. right?

She eats 3 jars of food a day on top of her bottles. She loves drinking apple juice out of her sippy cup, and has become a pro at eating her Gerber Puffs, she can pick them up and get them into her mouth like nothing!

She had her first ear infection a few weeks ago, it was a VERY rough few days for all of us, but we all survived!

She is still such a good baby!! She has been so easy, happy and smiley.. we love it!!

Date Night

So, Joe and I finally had our first date night since we became parents! Of course the day of our big date we had the biggest snow storm of the year.. but we were determined to get out, and it was so worth it!! We went to Annie's Parlour in Dinkytown for burgers and shakes, it was very good.. they have homemade fries, I suggest a half order for two people! It was a ton of food! Then we were off to the Varsity Theater to see Lisa Hannigan. We got a table right up front, and it was amazing! We met some really cool people, and had way too much to drink... or I did at least :) Then we got to meet Lisa after the show, it was great!! We got her autograph and a picture taken with her! I forgot how much I love live music. We definitely need to spend more time at the Varsity!

Oh yeah.. Kara did great with Auntie Michelle and Uncle Dre. She played with Jayden and was on her best behavior all night! Apparently she didn't miss us one bit!

6 Months Old

Today is Kara's 6 month birthday, its hard to believe that half a year has already passed, and in another 6 months we will be throwing her her first birthday party!! Which also happens to be her golden birthday, so we have promised her a pony!

At 6 months Kara is doing the following:
Rolling over (since 3.5 months)
Sitting all by herself (since just over 4 months)
She loves to play peek-a-boo
She laughs at Mommy and Daddy, but mostly Daddy!
She smiles for the camera
She sleeps for 9-10 hours overnight!
She eats about four or five 5-7 ounce bottles a day
She has a collection of rubber duckies that include a cow duckie and a pig duckie
She loves bath time
She has tried the following foods:
Sweet Potatoes
Squash
Carrots
Prunes
Green Beans
Sweet peas
Pears
Bananas
She likes all of the foods except for Pears and Bananas so far!

And, as of last night, she got up on her hands and knees and crawled backwards!

I will update her 6 month height and weight after her 6 month well checkup on Thursday!
